Work no more

I still haven't gotten over the fact that I don't have to go to work Monday...or Tuesday or the whole week until Feb 2010.  How crazy is that?   The most I've ever taken off is 3 weeks and that was to go travel.  I keep thinking work is going to call me on Monday and ask where I am!  So with that said, 3 little weeks left and now it's not so much of a countdown but a bit of a reality check.  Yes, I've had 8 full months to 'realize' I'm bringing a baby into the world but for anyone who hasn't gone through this experience, it's still something that doesn't feel 'real'.  I think it'll finally 'hit me' when he's in my arms.  So much to look forward to.

So last Friday was my last day of work and my team of ladies (and one guy) took me out for a nice lunch and bought Mason the cutest little sock -booties as well as a gift card to Babies R Us.booties1

Can't wait to dress him up in his little clothes!  So with my post today I think I'm going to write a little summary of what I've gone through over the past 7 months, the time does really go fast.

My First Pregnancy

  • Is a blessing

  • Was the only reason I took vitamins on a regular basis and now it's a habit I will continue to do so!

  • Was the most exciting & scary thing I've ever endured

  • Made me friends with the toilet bowl for over 6 weeks

  • Resulted in at least 10 lbs lost (but I really can't complain, I was happy they were gone!)

  • Had me wishing my semi flat belly would grow faster than it was

  • Gave me more attention from friends, family and strangers that I'll ever experience again!

  • Made me waddle

  • Was a excuse for random strangers to touch my belly (but it doesn't bother me)

  • Made me appreciate my partner more than ever for taking such great care for me

  • Gave me heartburn (Tums are my friend)

  • Was very different from what my Mom's pregnancies were like

  • Resulted in a lot of doctors appointments!

  • Was very healthy, all tests had good results!

  • Shocked me and gave me bigger boobs.  Were they not big enough to begin with??

  • Made me appreciate Google as I read everything I could get my eyes on about pregnancy, childbirth and newborns

  • Gave me a reason to go to the Library more often (I think I've read all the books though!)

  • Finally gave me a legitimate reason to buy baby stuff (I had already started collecting when I was 17 and have a big box!)

  • Showed me that picking out a baby name isn't 'fun' it's really difficult if your partner doesn't like any of the same names!  Glad he caved on Mason!

  • Has made my Parents happier than I've seen them in a long time.  Finally Grandparents! Mason is going to be spoiled :)

  • Changed many titles in my family - Uncle, Great Grandma/pa, Grandma/pa, Great Aunt/Uncle

  • Showed me how strong and beautiful my body really is, love those curves!

  • Did not give me Linea nigra but gave me beautiful nails

  • Had my stomach stretch mark free until the 9th month.  I now have light purple 'bruises' (as that's what we originally thought they were).  Only 4 so far, hopefully that's it.

  • Will make me appreciate when I don't have to use the washroom a zillion times a day

  • Trained me for the impending lack of sleep/energy by not allowing me to sleep throughout the night

  • Go Back
