My baby has attitude!

My Mason has quite the little personality.  He's been complimented of his happy disposition on many occasions but as of late he sure loves pushing the boundaries.  I try to not limit Mason's boundaries on where he can crawl off to in the house but lately he wants to get into everything he shouldn't be.  He's discovered that the dishwasher door is the perfect spot to crawl up on (and I doubt that it supports 20lbs+ in weight), he races to any open door (closet, under the sink and fridge) to explore and has a little cry when it's suddenly closed.  He repeatedly digs into the dog kibble dish after being told 'not a toy' and sometimes even gives an evil little giggle when we talk stern or frown.  It's like "yahhh like I"m going to take YOU seriously!".  It's hard to keep a straight face and sometimes I have to turn around to laugh a little because it's so funny.

Tonight was over the top when Clayton put him down to bed and gave him a bottle for his bedtime feed.  Mason stood up, took the bottle, chucked it across the room and giggled!  Clayton laughed and left the room for me to deal with.  So I put the bottle away, pulled out the binky and gave it to him.  I layed him down, started to walk away and by the time I got to the door he had stood up and threw the binky at me and started laughing.  I was like OMG is that really my kid?  He's standing there with this silly little grin...I ain't going to bed Mama!  That was bout 45 mins ago and that kid is STILL awake.  I gave up on the enablers and now he's laying down but sleep isn't on the agenda quite yet.

So that's a peak into what's in store for 10 months but a lot has changed since I last wrote....here is the list:

  • has been recognizing faces he sees quite often (Granny) and plays a bit strange with people he hasn't
  • two teeth have FINALLY come through over Christmas.  On the bottom, the tooth on the right is coming in quicker than the one on the left
  • due to the teething is rejecting meal times and is quite a struggle to get him to eat solids!  Very frustrating
  • will eat more chunky foods; tried the pieces of fruit in a can as well as cheerios drowned in formula to make em mushy
  • tolerates a bit of juice but we don't give it to him often
  • his vocabulary has improved and speaks with a string of babbles 'bababoo'
  • still no luck with weaning him off the binky but it's still only given during nap times and bedtime, it doesn't leave the bedroom
  • understands height.  He tried to get himself off the bed by turning around and dangling his feet over the edge (to which I had him but didn't let him go).  He practices on the futon which is a perfect length for his feet to hit the floor
  • the dry December air took a toll on his skin and he has quite a bit of dry spots on his head.  I've been fixing it with minor dabs of HC and also greasing his head up with baby oil gel and lotion
  • has grown! Another 2 inches to his height (putting him at 29")
  • holds his larger bottles a lot better now (but they leak so I don't like him having them in the crib)
  • likes to open and close doors
  • coordination has improved, claps a lot and is trying to learn how to use his pincer fingers to pick things up
