It's a...........bumpy

Today was a special day.  Our 1st ultrasound!

Upon reading several mother to be books (What to expect when expecting, motherhood for dummies etc) I was told that you could hear the heartbeat at 9 weeks and during an ultrasound, the gender could be distinguished.   Unfortunately neither of those two exciting things happened during my dr visit and today's ultrasound.  However at approximately 9:15am Clayton and I both stared at a very grainy screen to see the appearance of a teeny weeny beating heart surrounded by a teeny weeny baby.  Tears immediately flowed down my cheeks.  Wow! There he was!  From the picture it was hard to tell which end was up but he appeared to be laying on his back, his head to the left and feet to the right.  From the u/s picture we got to keep, you can clearly see one little foot but not much else.  The appointment was no longer than 30 mins and the proud parents to be walked out of the clinic with a souvenier of love and smiles on their face.

We are currently at 9 weeks, at week 20 we'll find out the gender.  Seems a long way off but nothing much else to do but wait :)  Baby seems very healthy and by my daily sick sessions means high hormones which in turn means healthy baby.  So all is good to this point!

Head is on the left, feets on the right.  140bpm.

I know it's grainy and hard to see but it's the first pic!
