Thomas the Tank Engine Day

In search of something to do today, I visited the Kids Vancouver website and saw that Art Knapp was having a Thomas event.

I asked Mason if he wanted to go and he said 'Yes!'.  So off we went to Surrey to see Thomas.  As we started to drive, the rain poured down.  Yikes, this might be a no show.  But I prayed that the skies would clear as soon as we arrived and my prayers were answered as the rain subsided enough so we could attend the event.

We entered the front doors and were happy to see that the event was half indoors and half outdoors.   The store was decorated for Hallowe'en AND Thomas!  We headed to the back where Mason was given his free 'Dodge' train and a DVD.

We took a walk outside to see the activities.  They had a bouncy castle set up (I think it was $2.50 for entry so we skipped it):

A remote control car area (25 cents for a turn):

Bumper cars:

There were even some feathered friends for sale!:

We checked out the Thomas Train that went by (see Video here) but again, there was a cost of $2.50 and we skipped it.

We checked out a coin operated train and Mason had his picture taken:

There is a playground available for the kids but unfortunately it was quite wet! :(

And wandered through the nursery to see all the wonderful flowers and plants for sale.

Then we headed back inside to see the trains!  There were trains on tables with full accessories and even a train on the ceiling!

They also had two Thomas train tables set up for kids to play (and three couches surrounding one for Parents to take a rest!).  A cotton candy booth (free) was set up for treats.  Hot dogs and pop were outside by donation (they didn't have veggie dogs :() and of course all the Thomas merchandise was 15% off (we can't afford it!).  We missed Sir Topham Hat & Hambone the Entertainer (guess they showed up later) and there were no 'carnival rides' (unless you count the coin operated train.  The train ride was also $2.50 and went thru the pumpkin patch.

Finally after an hour, it was time to head to our playdate with Zach so we thanked everyone for the goodies and almost left without our goody bag!

We received a paper bag full of treats:

  • A red balloon
  • A kazoo
  • 2 free passes to 18 hole mini golf (no expiry - will use these next year!)
  • A bracelet from the 90's
  • A kaleidoscope
  • A magnifying glass
  • and a Mini back-scratcher

Thanks to Art Knapp and his staff for hosting a great event.  We'll see u next year!
