September, already!?

So I'm walking to Mason's room to check on him as I just put him down to have a nap.  I'm thinking while I'm walking about what this blog is going to be about.  I think maybe I'll write about how great Mason is at napping.  I put him right down and away to sleepy land he goes.  I peer over the crib rungs to see my Son, who is not sleeping.  He is crawling around on all fours, has his sock/gloves off and a blanket wrapped around his midsection.  He looks up at me with his gummy smile as if to say, 'Me not sleepy, me play now!!!'.  So much for my perfect sleeper!

Since my last update on the dreaded eczema we were lucky enough to get an appointment to see the Dermatologist which was located at BC Children's Hospital.  We were seen by a Derm. assistant and then the doctor herself who didn't ask too many questions (I had told most of everything to the assistant)  and the Dr. wrote out a prescription for ointment (opposed to cream) and we were on our merry way.  It's been about a week and Mason is about 90% clear.  The ointment started taking effect within a few hours and his skin that isn't red is baby smooth once again.  We are still struggling with his itching and scratching.  We have resorted to putting his baby socks on his arms (the mittens don't stay on) but he constantly pulls these off too.  It's hard to break the eczema cycle because he scratches his skin often, it's impossible to stop him.  The rash is limited to his diaper area (I've switching to Huggies Pure and Natural) arm creases (at the elbow) and a bit on the tummy and back.

Clayton and are still are still adjusting to the newest development - crawling!  He's not fully on all fours but wiggles and rolls around.  If Mason sees something he wants he'll crawl faster to get to it. It's quite funny!  The link to the video is here.  I guess this means we need to babyproof the house soon! He's already reaching for things he shouldn't, which means we need to be watching him at all times now!

Mason is being introduced weekly to new foods which he loves! We've added pears, green beans, apple juice (which is a treat), bananas and broccoli and cheese casserole to the menu.  The only food he's rejected was carrots but we'll try again in a few weeks.

Out with the old and in with the new!  Toys that is.  Mason has outgrown his swing and his bouncey chair so those will be taking a trip to CR to live in my parents storage when baby #2 comes around.  Mason still plays on his playmats but he's now exploring the rest of the living room so I imagine those will get packed up soon too.  He still is enjoying his piano chair and often uses it as a toilet! I guess he prefers to poop while in an upright position (might help for potty training down the road).  The downside is the diapers don't always contain the poo and I have to pull him out of the little seat before poo sludges down his leg.  Yucko.  We have plans today to pick up a jumperoo I found on Craigslist.  One of the more expensive 2nd hand toys ($45) but a lot less than buying brand new and paying full retail.  $137.50USD + tax.

I also need to pack up all of his 0-6 month clothes as he's continually growing out of most outfits.  He's still a smaller baby so not a lot of the 6 month clothes fit him yet (like the hoodies etc) but that works for me as I don't have to buy him a lot of new clothes.  We still have a ton from Faye and from gifts :)

And lastly, we are heading back to the Island this coming weekend to visit with Grammie & Poppy, Mama & Papa and hopefully Grama (if she's out of isolation at the Hospital).
