Burnaby Fire Department - Station 1

When Mason had his first birthday it was more of an adults party than a traditional kids party since he was so young.  His Dad and I decided that he really didn't need anymore presents so we asked for guests to bring donations to the Vancouver Food bank in lieu of gifts & cards.

Here is a pic of us at the Vancouver Food Bank dropping off the 'presents'.

For Mason's 2nd birthday it was pretty low key and his 3rd we didn't put any rules on presents...and he got a lot.  We appreciated the effort everyone went to get him a gift but this year I really wanted to go back to the food donation instead.  February is right after Christmas and he definitely has enough toys!

Well Mason's birthday was over a month ago and I've been waiting for an opportunity to take him to the food bank.  Unfortunately the VFB is only open business hours so that doesn't really give me anytime to drop the donations off.  I then read that the Vancouver Fire Department accepts donations at a few of their halls so I thought I would contact Burnaby and see if they did too.

I received a response right away and they confirmed that just one Fire Hall accepted donations.

So today was the day!

When we arrived, luckily there was a fire fighter right inside the main door and offered to give us a tour of the garage and allowed Mason to sit in the fire truck!  Woohoo!

Hard to resist touching all the gauges and switches!

Checking out the map of Burnaby.  Mason's trying to point out our house.

And finally handing over the donations!

Thanks to Travis for taking the time to show Mason the trucks and equipment and to Firehall #1 for accepting the donations on behalf of the food bank!
